How to Peel an Egg in 10 Seconds

Egg Peeling
(Image is in the Public Domain)

This is one of the coolest things I've seen and the best part is that it works! Take a hard-boiled eggs, crack and then tear a little bit of the shell from the top and bottom, blow into it and it pops right out! I was making egg salad yesterday and I found this tip online and tried it right then. 7 perfect eggs in a row.

The only thing this video and others like it doesn't tell you is when to do it (when they're still warm, cooled down, etc). I looked up some info that said to take the hot egg, run it under cold water for a few seconds, and then peel normally.

I combined the two and took my hot egg, ran it under cold water for about 8 seconds, cracked the top and bottom, tore a bit off each end and blew. Perfection.

The EFF has an excellent article about how to avoid being searched at the border. Specifically, how to protect your laptop data that courts recently ruled could be searched without warrant.

I don't know about the accuracy of the claim that a screen with darker colors and more black will reduce eyestrain, but I'm going to try it out. Besides, it looks really cool 🙂

Recover Stolen Purchases

Watch out for thieves
(Image is used under the Pixabay license)

If just-bought items are stolen out of your car in the parking lot, don't give up hope. The couple in this story went back to the store the items were bought from and warned them that someone would probably try to return them for cash later. That "someone" did and that "someone" was caught and arrested. The couple got their items back too 🙂

Theft Deterrant – Make You Car Look Rusted

Make your car less attractive to theives
(Image is in the Public Domain)

I have always said the best defense against theft is to have a lousy car. Now I might want a nice car someday, but there must be a way to make it at least look bad…. Well here's a good example: stickers that make your car look rusted.

It would be simple enough to scrape away paint and let it rust for real or bang in the metal here and there, but real damage affects resale and could end up causing need of repairs. This solution is far more elegant.
