Who is Ron Paul – Are You Sick of His Name Yet?

(Image used under: Creative Commons 2.0 [SRC])

I see noise about "Ron Paul" everywhere. Streets, media, online. It's enough to get on your nerves. But as with all things popular, eventually, you want to see what the fuss is about.

I checked out his website today and if half of the things there are true, he might be our best presidential candidate in a long, long time.

For one, he doesn't hide behind political speech. Is he against abortion? Yes, yes he is. It's not hard to find out his stance on almost anything. And, I for one, can definitely agree with this:

The biggest threat to your privacy is the government. We must drastically limit the ability of government to collect and store data regarding citizens’ personal matters.

Damn straight. Maybe if Ron Paul was elected, we wouldn't end up with stupidity like the Presidential ID Theft Task Force that spent over six months analyzing ID theft only to produce an 80 page document that ignored the actual solutions.

It would be nice to actually have a candidate that I believed would do a good job rather than just trying to pick what I hoped was the lessor of two evils only to end up with someone who nearly single-handedly destroyed America during his terms.

Welcome to the revolution. He’s 100% real.

Check out http://www.ronpaullibrary.com . You’ll see that he’s been preaching the same message for 20+ years. He’s a man ahead of his time.

Well I’ve looked into him as well, and to be honest I think 99% of it is true. So the best, without a doubt.

Hey Jeremy, I submitted this topic to digg. And, yes everything on his website is true. But keep doing your research, the more you do – the more you realize how deep our problems in America truly go, and how we need a revolution in this country to turn the tides.. A Ron Paul revolution!

WE NEED FRED THOMPSON IN THE WHITE HOUSE. ONLY HE WILL KEEP US FREE FROM THOSE ISLAMOFASCISTS. CLICK ON MY NAME, COME TO MY WEBSITE AND TOGETHER WE CAN ALL JOIN FORCES TO NUKE IRAN AND TURN IT INTO GLASS!

(Oh, and I copied alot of my other platforms from Ron Paul because people seem to really go for this guy)

@nullvalu,

Thanks! I found it there earlier and was really surprised. I’m afraid to get my hopes up, but I’ll definitely be looking at him closely to see if I can endorse him. So far, he’s my top candidate just based on the fact that he doesn’t snow people with his stance on things.

That and I agree with a lot of what he says anyway.

Ron Paul is 100% legit. He is who he has always been. Even if you don’t agree with 100% of his ideas unlike the others running he believe he DOESNT have the power to install them. He can bring up ideas, but it must be done the proper way.

Its also amazing at some of the attacks people sling at him because of being a libertarian. I want those people to asnwer this question? What is wrong with defending the very documents and ideas that so unique in history that gave this country more liberty and freedom than has ever existed before.

Willem De Wit says:

I, too, like the fact that Paul doesn’t hide behind political speech. There are issues that I disagree with him on (abortion, for example) but I know where he stands.

@Angela,

Thanks for the link. I see that there is a consistent history in his stances which is another reason to support him. As long as he can be reasoned with that is…

I wonder if he’d respond if I sent him a message. There’s a few things I’d like to know his stance on that isn’t covered on what I’ve seen so far.

He can be reasoned with. He noted in the last debate that he had changed his stance on the death penalty a while back (he is now against it) due to research into the issue.

He is truly a statesman, and wants the best for America. Special interests are NOT special to Ron Paul. There more you find out about him, the better you will like him.

If it is true?! You have a nineteen year voting record spread out over a 31 year Congressional “career” to determine whether what he says is how he votes. I care little for what a politician says, I look at what they have done. And Ron Paul, even though I disagree with him on some issues, passes the smell test. I can say that for no other candidate running (who has a chance…Gravel is swell, but he wouldn’t be running if Kucinich had a pair).

“If it’s true” meaning that I hadn’t taken the time to check into his history yet. I still haven’t had the time to look, but at first blush, he’s a pretty straight arrow.

I think that Ron Paul on the Republican side and Dennis Kucinich, on the Democrats side, are the only trustworthy candidates running in this election.
