Kids-in-mind – Movie Reviews for Parents

Movie reviews for parents

This is the best site I've ever seen for finding out if a movie is ok for your kid or not. Not only do they rate movies on individual scales for violence, sex/nudity, and language (1 to 10 for each), but there is a detailed description of why it got each score.

Consider Lion King (scored 0.3.0 where 3 is for violence).

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - Many scary scenes with bloody battles; several end in death. Hyenas are involved in many of the fight scenes: one has its cheek slashed, others are knocked around, one lands in a thorny patch and several fall into a brush fire. One character is shown being trampled...[etc]

They are brutally detailed as to every instance of sex, violence, and language giving nearly a play-by-play for the whole movie. As a parent, this is an invaluable tool.

It's not just about "G" rated movies either. They have reviews for any kind of movie from Elmo in Grouchland (0.1.0) to Pulp Fiction (9.10.10). Though the database is spotty for movies that are from before the 1990's, this will give you as much information as you need to know before allowing your kids to see a movie.

Trusting Companies

Store, online or off, are not known for being fair and helpful unless it benefits them to be so. Good deals exist, but many are bad deals in disguise. It's not in your best interests to be too trusting with any of them.
